THE INITIATION is a 12-week online, live-taught preparatory journey into original kundalini yoga tantra.
It’s for you if you’re called to the path of kundalini, or if you’ve experienced a kundalini awakening and you want more information.
THE INITIATION is the beginning of a new spiritual chapter for you. One that offers safety, clarity, and an embodied understanding of original Indian kundalini tantra practices. This is a chapter in which you can bring all the work you’ve already done over the years and be met where you are.
Your kundalini does not need to be active to join this program. This program will not activate your kundalini energy unless it is the right time for you, in which case you will be able to guide your energy safely. The purpose of this program is to gently prepare your body, mind and chakras.

Original kundalini yoga has been practiced for a very long time, and is different to the popular modern Yogi Bhajan style. There is an entire Upanishad dedicated to kundalini, and many old tantric texts speak of it, including the Sat Chakra Nirupana, which we will begin to work with in this program.
Original kundalini yoga is a collection of techniques designed to purify and strengthen the body and mind to allow for a smooth awakening when it is time, and a collection of techniques which encourage the kundalini up Sushumna nadi in the spine once it’s awake. The end goal of kundalini yoga is enlightenment, which happens when you can unify this energy in the brain. In the meantime, we focus on advancing our spiritual focus, upgrading our consciousness, releasing the grip of the mind and ego, and beginning to cultivate a healthy, sattvic body.

A regular, informed practice is safe.
These techniques were originally designed to keep the Sadhaka safe. Danger only occurs in an unprepared body and mind. The process is deliberately slow. You’ll build a grounded practice which unfolds slowly as opposed to rapid modern techniques which may or may not be working with kundalini energy and may or may not be dangerous.
The benefits of kundalini yoga are numerous. Whether your kundalini is awake or not, you’ll feel peaceful, grounded and more in tune with your body. You’ll build mental resilience and have more control over your thoughts. You’ll understand your energy system in a whole new way and even begin to feel your own prana (chi) moving around. If your kundalini is awake, you’ll be able to develop confidence in moving this energy in your body and understand the physical and energetic sensations on a much deeper level. Many of the techniques we use bring about bliss with regular practice.

People are often surprised that on the most part, kundalini yoga doesn’t involve lots of strenuous, complicated physical exercise.
Some of the safest, most powerful techniques involve pranayam, meditation, and the use of sound through mantra.
Each session will be slightly different. We will always warm up the spine and calm the mind first. There will be some basic theory and philosophy, but nothing too heavy to remember. We will also start to become familiar with the Sat Chakra Nirupana - an Indian tantric authority text on the chakra system.
Every session will finish with a relaxing yoga nidra to help you rest deeply and integrate the work you have done in the session.
-
Each session will be at least 90 minutes long, but may run up to 2 hours sometimes if we need to (don’t worry, you’ll have a little break!). You’ll also need to practice the core kundalini set you learn in class. Preferably every day if you can, but at least 3 times a week. This is so you can really get familiar with the techniques and the effects, and embody the learning. You can shorten this core set to fit the time you have.
There is a WhatsApp group to connect with other members of THE INITIATION and ask questions. I’m here to support you with anything, whenever you need me. No question is too weird or too silly!

By the end of the 12 weeks, you’ll have developed real confidence in practising kundalini yoga safely, progressively and effectively. You’ll have dispelled any fears about kundalini energy. You’ll understand what is happening in your body when kundalini starts rising. You’ll have learnt a set of exercises you can continue to use and enjoy. You’ll understand some of the main theory and philosophy surrounding kundalini, which you don’t tend to get from attending one-off kundalini classes… and you’ll know whether you want to take your studies further and join THE EMBODIMENT - my intermediate group running later this year.
-
Yes. The sessions are taught live on Zoom and are not recorded. This is to encourage attendance, but also presence and respect for these ancient teachings. It’s also really important to create a nice energy within the group, which doesn’t happen so easily if cameras are off and people are only invested in watching recordings.
Having said that, if there are a few sessions you already know that you can’t make, don’t worry. You’ll be able to access the handouts in a special Google Drive folder for the group, and I’m happy to call you in the week to get you up to speed with the theory and answer any questions.
-
Yes absolutely. You can pay in full via my website on the “LIVE PROGRAMS” page, or on Eventbrite. All the links are in my bio.
If you would like to pay in installments, please contact me, and we can arrange this. I’m happy to take a lower first instalment as it’s January and I know everyone is still recovering from Christmas. You can also put a deposit of your choice down and pay the rest on payday. Just ask.
